Still deciding if camp is for your child?

Camp Green Lane’s motto is “Where Happiness Counts.”  All summer camps want their kids to be happy, right?  But at Camp Green Lane we see our most important job as creating a strong, supportive summer family where the uniqueness and value of every child is treasured.  Through our long-standing traditions and values, we create a sense of belonging that gives children the security and self-esteem to be who they are. This security allows them to have fun and be happy.

The pressure and competition that children often face today can be overwhelming. So many summer camps have become so specialized and hyper-competitive that they have all but lost their focus on the real reason we send our kids to summer camp in the first place. We’re not trying to get anyone ready for the NBA, Carnegie Hall or the Olympics. We know that not every kid is going to hit a home run each time he gets up to bat. But every kid can cheer on her teammates at a basketball game.  Every kid can share a belly-laugh with his/her counselor.  Every kid can learn to shake hands and hug their friend who just trounced them in tennis.  Every kid can lie in the grass and look up at the stars and feel that there is nowhere else in the world he would rather be at that moment.
