I went to Camp Green Lane for 14 years. My mother went to Camp Green Lane for 13 years. Now my daughter is a Green Lane camper. No other camp can compare with Green Lane’s spirit, traditions, and history. Almost every counselor was a Green Lane camper, and now many campers are 2nd and 3rd generation campers. When my mom, my daughter, and I get together we sing the same songs and yell the same cheers. CGL is the best thing we share.

I had always dreamed that my children would attend Green Lane and it warms my heart to hear them talk about how much they love camp and how much their camp friends mean to them. When it was time to sign the kids up for camp we didn’t even look anywhere else because I knew that with Green Lane, the amazing feelings, friendships, and memories that I’ve enjoyed for the past 24 years would be the same ones that they will enjoy for a lifetime.

Green Lane is so much a part of who I am and who my children are becoming. Three generations of my family have walked through those arches; creating memories to last a lifetime. Friendships which have endured decades and the opportunity to grow as an individual while having fun beyond compare, all born out of the 7 weeks shared together each and every summer. My life truly would not have been the same if for not those 12 splendid summers spent under the Green Lane skies.

My husband and I grew up at Green Lane and now our children have made it their second home. Sending our boys to camp is one of the greatest gifts we have ever given them. It’s a place and a feeling that the four of us will always share. Camp Green Lane is our family's favorite common bond.

There are times when I walk through Green Lane arches and it is as if time has stood still. I look around and I see so many familiar faces- people who were there when I started in 1981 and still spend their summers there. My favorite bench is even still there. When I speak to my daughter during her weekly phone call home during the summer, or read her letters, or while we reminisce all year long, we compare memories of some of the very same events and activities. While keeping Green Lane traditions alive, Mel and Jon have found a way to incorporate new activities, events, and technology.

For eight summers, Camp Green Lane was truly a home away from home for my sister and me. To this day, my heart starts to beat faster and my eyes well up with tears of happiness as I drive down Camp Green Lane Road and approach the arch. During my final summer at CGL, I met the person who would become my husband. I knew when I met him during staff orientation that we would be one of those many Green Lane couples that I had heard about – marriages made at Camp Green Lane. Now our girls and my niece are attending CGL along with the children of many of our camp friends and they all count the days until camp will begin. Not once did we hesitate in our decision to send them to CGL – we know they are among family there.

Camp Green Lane has been an amazing experience for Elliott. He looks forward to it all year long...
We're always amazed at how much he grows and matures over the seven weeks that he's away. I only wish
we had discovered Camp Green Lane sooner."
